Ron S mith

Ron Smith passed away on Feb. 17, 2024, three weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Connally, son-in-law, Ian Connally, and grandchildren, Max and Vivian. Ron grew up in New Mexico where he attended Albuquerque High School.

After graduating, Ron enlisted in the Navy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. Ron remembered his service fondly and was proud of his time in the Navy.

He went on to study at Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Later, called to ministry, Ron earned a Masters in Counseling at Southwestern Theological Seminary.

He worked in various church positions and as a State Parole officer. Ron lived in Waco, Fort Worth, and Fairfield, where he had a close circle of friends. Among his favorite things were playing chess, eating Blue Bell ice cream, hunting, and singing in the church choir.

Ron never met a stranger and loved to tell stories of all his life experiences. Our family is grateful to know that Ron is finally at peace.

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Fairfield on Saturday March 16, from 2-4 p.m.
