Ronald Arthur Richardson, 78, of Pursley left us on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024.

He was born in Texas City, on June 6, 1945, to R ichardson Luther and Agnes Smith Richardson.

He graduated from Aldine High School in Houston in 1964. He then attended West Texas State on a full football scholarship.

In Ronnie’s early career he was a fuel truck driver for Gulf Oil/Chevron for 20 years, driving a million miles, accident free. He then worked in the pipeline control center in Wortham. Along with his jobs, he raised and tended to his cattle, until he was no longer able.

In 2003, he married his high school sweetheart, Rena. God blessed them with 20 years together.

Even though he had no biological children, he was a proud and loving dad and grandfather. The word “stepchildren” was never in his vocabulary or in his heart.

Ronnie was a Master Mason and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed competitive skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and loved to root for any football team who was playing against the Dallas Cowboys.

He had a lot of accomplishments in his life. One that he was the proudest of was when he obtained his private pilot’s license.

He was passionate about his Christianity and was thankful to be a part of the Prisoners of Christ. For years he spent hours on the phone with prison Chaplains, scheduling dates for the group to come into the prisons all over Texas to share the Word of God and the gift of Salvation.

Ronnie loved this ministry, what it stood for and each and every member in the group. He missed it dearly when he was no longer able to attend.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Rena, Children DeAnne Harris (Joe), Trent Long (Alaine), Susie Young (Kenny), Kristi Young and Tim Young (Cassie). Grandchildren: Matthew Harris, Delainey Long, Madeline Young, Emily Young, Rickie Bowers and Zachary Bowers. Sister, Beverly Hepler (Jerry), Niece, Tina Hepler Sperry and Nephew Sean Hepler (Julie). Last, but not lease, Buddy, his lap dog, who he called “his boy.”

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Agnes Richardson and Granddaughter Natalie Harris.

The family would like to express their thanks to Bristol Hospice and Skilled Care of Mexia for their loving care and support for Ronnie and Rena during this difficult time.

The viewing for Ronald was Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, from 9-10 a.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service followed at 10 a.m.
