David Eggleston

David Eggleston, 84, of Fairfield passed away from this life on Dec. 21, 2023.

David was born on Sept. 4, 1939, in Athens, Texas to William and Alta Eggleston.

David was a graduate of Cayuga High School in 1957.

He attended Henderson County Junior College in which he might have graduated with a psychology degree if the final season had not been scheduled in the middle of squirrel season.

David has worked several jobs that include working in a shipyard on the Texas coast, a pipe yard in Conroe, a metal fabrication shop in Willis, and also worked at Big Brown power plant until he retired in 1999.

His entire life he has E ggleston hunted and fished with a passion, and he did so to help provide for his family.

Later in life, he focused on enjoying time with his best friend and companion, Shauna Neely catching crappie and walking the windy banks of the lake searching for arrowheads.

David was preceded in death by his parents William and Alta Eggleston and brother Lynn Eggleston.

He is survived by his children Sean Eggleston, Dawn Orand, Eddie Eggleston and wife Connie, grandchildren Ashley, Andrew, Miranda, Brock and wife Alexis and a great grandchild Avalynn, siblings Valerie Peace, Vickey Quarles, and Donna Winkelmann.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a special family friend Trent Neely.

Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m. at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home.

Graveside Service followed at 2:30 at Fairfield Cemetery.
