Former Mexia High School teacher and band director Conrad Flusche was arraigned Monday morning, Jan. 27, on a charge of improper relationship between educator and student, and was being held in the Limestone County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond. As of Jan. 28, he had not bonded out.

The charge is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, with a minimum of two years, and a fine of up to $10,000.

The incident was reported to Mexia Police Department on Jan. 22, and after an investigation, Flusche was arrested Friday evening, Jan. 24, when the Mexia Police Department executed an arrest warrant for him at a residence in Limestone County. 

Assisting in the arrest were the Texas Rangers, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office and the Groesbeck Police Department. 

Flusche was taken into custody without incident and was charged with improper relationship between educator and student.

While currently employed by the Mart ISD, he is believed to be on administrative leave from that position.

The Mexia Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation. Mexia Police Lt. C.W. Boyd has been assigned as the lead investigator. 

The Mexia PD expressed its thanks to the Texas Rangers, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, the Groesbeck Police Department, and the Mexia Independent School District for their assistance and cooperation.
