Welcome to the Recorder's weekly NFL fantasy football rankings!
Throughout the season, we'll be posting our picks for who you should start, sit, and shouldn't even consider for fantasy squads.
In addition to positional and top 100 flex rankings (provided free of charge!), we'll present the Daily Fantasy lineup of the week, a combination of the best values available.
The positional and flex rankings will be updated throughout the weekend, accounting for injuries and depth chart changes.
So, to start week two, here's the Recorder DFS lineup (using DraftKings 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 D/ST Lineup, with a $50,000 salary cap. All prices are DK prices as of Friday, Sept. 13):
QB- Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers (at Det, $6,100):
Facing a Lions defense that gave up a 300-yard day in Kyler Murray's debut, Rivers should have no problem crossing the 20-point mark again this week. Even with Mike Williams potentially hobbled, Rivers has developed a great rapport with Austin Ekeler on screens and swing passes. This should be more of a featured play against a slower Lions front seven, leading to easy points.
RB1- Mark Ingram II, Baltimore Ravens (vs Ari, $6,000)
What's better than facing one pushover squad to start the season? Facing two, as Ingram and the Ravens do at home Sunday against the lowly (but still undefeated!) Cardinals. The 'Zona defense will know what the Ravens do, but won't stop it. Just like in Miami, Ingram rolls for double-digits, anchored by at least one touchdown.
RB2- Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns (at NY Jets (Mon), $6,200)
Chubb's day during Cleveland's complete washing at the hands of Tennessee was a solid one, with the only complaint being a touchdown taken by Dontrell Hilliard early. Being targeted four times in the passing game helped, and Chubb owners should expect more of that going forward. Playing against the Jets' backup QB this week may translate into an early lead, perfect for a 20-carry night from the Georgia product.
WR1- Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs (at Oak, $7,200)
My most expensive pick of the week, but with good reason. Watkins absolutely torched one of the best defenses in the league last Sunday, going for an absurd 9-198-3 line. While this shouldn't be expected weekly, I do expected another big game with Tyreek Hill out of the lineup. The Chiefs put up at least 35 points in both contests against Oakland in 2018, including a 40-33 sprint in the Black Hole. Plenty of points for the Chiefs, usually, means of plenty of Mahomes. Plenty of Mahomes, plenty of Watkins. I'm sold.
WR2- John Brown, Buffalo Bills (at NY Giants, $5,200)
I mean, did you see the Giants last week? They made Michael Gallup look like Michael Irvin. This is purely a matchup selection, although Brown receiving 10 targets in his Bills debut solidifies him as the top guy for the underrated (and soon-to-be overrated) Josh Allen.
WR3- Tyrell Williams, Oakland Raiders (vs KC, $4,400)
I'm double dipping into the Chiefs-Raiders contest like I'm George Costanza. 73 points in Oakland between these teams last year! Williams being the only wideout worth anything on the Chuckys is hard to pass up at this price.
TE- Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles (at Atl, $6,300)
Tight end is a spot where you either go for one of the top four (Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Ertz and Evan Engram), or go bargain-hunting. I'll take the former this week, as Ertz was slow to get out of the gate against Washington. Wentz will look to his big man early and often; especially against an Atlanta team that is susceptible to consistent 7-8 yard plays, which is the Ertz zone for Philly.
Flex- Josh Jacobs, Oakland Raiders (vs KC, $4,700)
Okay, I lied. I'm triple dipping. How Jacobs is only $4,700 after his spectacular debut against Denver is beyond me. This man will become an every week force in fantasy. Whether he already is remains to be seen, but I'll take a bet on at least another touchdown from the rookie.
D/ST- Bears ($3,900)
Defense is similar to tight end, either take the best or take a flier. I'll take the best, especially when the best is ready to avenge a week one loss. And it's against Joseph Vincent Flacco? Yes, please.
