McDonald’s of Fairfield did their part for the community’s protectors during National First Responder’s Day on Oct. 28, handing out free breakfasts to police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel alike.

From 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., first responders were treated to one free breakfast extra value meal,

“It was nice to see the number of first responders that we had out,” McDonalds owner David Floyd said. “It was a really nice event to have, and we’re glad we did that.”

Using events such as free breakfast as a way for the community to connect with their first responders, McDonald’s has been a champion of the Fairfield community and beyond.

Within the town, McDonald’s puts on “coffee with cops,” a similar event that gives police free coffee and a chance to see their public.

“They should always know police and firefighters are there to serve them, and there should never be any fear,” Floyd said.

Floyd’s McDonald’s locations have also partnered with Ferguson Road Initiative, which advocates for the empowerment of communities in the Dallas area.

With the upcoming playground addition to the McDonald’s location, found at 669 W US Highway 84, the restaurant will make a donation to local law enforcement.

Floyd advocates for local responders due to his admiration for the men and women, including his own brother, a firefighter.

“It’s something that’s special to me...they give their time, they risk their lives for us every day,” he said.

McDonald’s will also be hosting a similar free breakfast for veterans on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.
