The Fairfield Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) recently presented a plaque and a monetary award to Ben Havens, a senior at Wortham High School. Havens competed in the “Voice of Democracy” contest, in which all 9th-12th grade students were invited to write an essay on the topic “What Makes America Great,” as well as submit a recording of the reading of the essay to the nearest local VFW…
