Theda Tate, 83, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 in Fairfield. Graveside services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview with Bro. Ron Brunson officiating.

Mrs. Tate was born Aug. 11, 1937 in Wylie to parents David Alexander Poovey and Beulah Faye Wright Poovey. Mr. and Mrs. Tate had been residents of Freestone County since 1998 moving her from Decatur.

She was a founding member of Cowboy Heritage Church. Mrs. Tate enjoyed flower gardening and painting. For a few years she worked as a hairdresser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two son, Rickey Lee and Kev in Tate.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Orphus of Fairfield; two children, Kimberley Walls of Fairfield; Jim Tate and wife Lisa of Buda; two sisters, Linda Moore and husband Gary Don of Vega; Sylvia Bockleman and husband Dave of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Ty Walls, Brandey Fannette, Alyssa Tate and Austin Tate; five great-grandchildren.
