Graveside services for Suzanne Morris Thomas were held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Point Enterprise Cemetery. Bro. Roy Prather officiated.

There will be no formal visitation, however; friends and family were able to view and pay their respects to Suzanne at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.

Suzanne Morris Thomas was born on Dec. 19, 1948 in Teague to parents Herbert and Loretta Stricklin Morris. Suzanne graduated with the Class of 1967 from Teague High School. She moved to Dallas and went to work for a couple years before she returned home and worked as secretary for Freestone Co. Treasurer’s office. Suzanne then attended peace officer training and began her 30-year career as dispatcher for Freestone County until her retirement in 2015. She was an avid reader and loved her dogs, especially Sandy. Ms. Thomas was especially close with her nieces and nephews and especially her great-nephew, Macon. Suzanne attended Eighth Ave. Baptist Church for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Linda Thornton of Teague; two brothers, Jerry Morris and Mike Morris & wife Sherry all of Teague; one aunt, Pam Ingram of Kosse; six nieces, Mary Kay Sartor of Teague, Dana Morris of Buffalo, Leslie DeCoux of Reno, NV, Donna Cooper of Dixon, IL, Kelley Taptich of Freehold, NJ, and Melissa Puskac of Missouri City; five nephews, Scott Thornton of Mexia, Phil Morris of Buda, William Morris of Waco, Jason Morris of Arlington, and Casey Morris of Stewards Mill; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews including special great-nephew, Macon Thornton of Teague.

Ms. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert & Loretta Morris; two brothers, Dan Morris and Phillip Morris; brother-in-law, Merle Thornton; two sistersin-law, Jan Morris and Linda Kay Morris; and one nephew, B. T. Thornton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to Freestone Cancer Support Group, P. O. Box 1522, Fairfield, Texas 75840.

The family requests that everyone in attendance to please wear a mask.
