Funeral services for Kenneth Lee Rice were held on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life Tabernacle, on Highway 84 east of Mexia. Pastor James Tomisee will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague.

Visitation was on Dec. 28 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Mr. Rice passed away on Dec. 22 at his residence near Teague.

He was born in Avon, Florida, on June 24, 1970. Kenneth moved around a lot as a child and settled with his family in Fairfield. He served in the U. S. Army before his career as a truck driver. Mr. Rice drove a truck for LSPI of Bryan. He married Lisa on May 30, 2014, and they made their home in the country near Teague. Kenneth loved to fish and to be out on the water on a boat.

He was a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church and filled in as preacher whenever possible.

He also loved playing music and spent many hours writing both country and religious songs; even getting to play on stage in Nashville, TN. Kenneth also sang and played music at his church, and wrote numerous sermons while resting on his truck routes.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Rice of Teague; one son, Austin Rice of Waco; two grandchildren, Brayleigh Rice and Willow Rice; one brother, Kevin Rice; one aunt, Geneva Carroll & husband Johnny; two uncles, Gerald Keen & wife Frances and Ken Sanderson; other relatives and friends.

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his infant son; and his parents, Doyle & Linda Rice.
