ADAR, a praise dance team at Fairfield Christian Center, is hosting a golf tournament at the Tri-County Golf Club at the Vineyards Saturday at 9 a.m. The tournament will be held as a four-person scramble. Cost is $50 per person.

NFL alumni will be coming to town to compete in the tournament as well. TJ Glover, a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Liffort Hobley, a safety for the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Cardinals, will be in Freestone County to get on their golf game. Lori Parrish, a NFL alumni cheerleader, will also be in town to participate.

A closest to the pin competition will be held and there will be a money hole as well. Mulligans will be available, two for $10. Lunch will be provided. There will be door prizes as well as a silent auction during the event. The silent auction will begin on Friday at noon and end at tee off at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The silent auction will include two unique hunting trips - a South Africa Plains Game hunting package for three valued at $9,450 and an Argentina Big Game hunting package for two hunters valued at $4,000. There will also be cakes and other items donated by area businesses in the silent auction.

“ADAR has a great group of kids dancing and it is a really good time,” Director Kim Bishop said. “Our goal is to open the organization up so other kids from other churches in Freestone County can participate as well. We hope this fundraiser will give us the boost to make that happen.”

ADAR comes from a Hebrew word meaning “fire.” ADAR began three years ago with just two girls and has now grown to 10 area kids. They perform at special services at the church as well as within the community at the Christmas and Easter celebrations. The money raised from the tournament will be used to purchase outfits and props as well as for training sessions throughout the year.
