Graveside services for Glendon Carroll were held April 28, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Bro. Roy Prather and Mr. Jeremy Little officiated.

There will be no public visitation.

Mr. Carroll passed away on April 25 at the Teague Nursing Home.

He was born in Stewards Mill on September 23, 1933, to Jesse & Jewell Awalt Carroll. Glendon attended school in Fairfield and served in the U. S. Army, and returned to Freestone County where he made his home in Teague. He married Iva Nicholas on January 24, 1954, and shared over sixty-six years of marriage together. He worked as a pipeline inspector, then later as a general contractor and owned Jacks’ Manufacturing then Carroll Lumber in Teague. His contributions to the community can be seen in the numerous homes he constructed in and around Freestone County from 1973 until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Carroll was well known for his sense of humor, big smile, and big cigars. He was a longtime cattle rancher and loved to Rodeo. He and Iva spent many weekends participating in Rodeos and was a member of numerous Rodeo Associations all over the country. Mr. Carroll served as President of the Teague Rodeo Association for almost two decades. Glendon was a very accomplished calf roper, having won numerous championships, buckles, and saddles during his lifetime. He continued to rope into his early seventies. Glendon loved horses and spending time with his grandchildren, and in spite of his Alzheimer’s in his later years, he really enjoyed seeing his great-grandchildren. Mr. Carroll was a member of First Baptist Church of Teague.

He is survived by his wife, Iva Carroll; one son, Glendon Ray Carroll, Jr.; two daughters, LaDonna Carroll Turner and Vickey Carroll Little & husband David all of Teague; three grandchildren, Kristen Little Skinner & husband Clint, Jeremy Little & wife Adrian, and Trent Carroll Turner; six great-grandchildren, Tori Ann Skinner, Kendal Turner, Brice Skinner, Hudson Little, Sutton Little, and Brynn Little; four siblings, Sharon Hagen & husband Roy, James Carroll, Steven Carroll & wife Nora, and Lecia Stautzenberger & husband Jess; two sisters-in-law, Frances Carroll and Velva Jo Magness; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by one brother, Don Carroll.
