Monday begins the Runoff Election process in Freestone County, with early voting set to begin in several races on the local and state levels.
Early voting will begin Monday, June 29, and will end July 10 for the July 14 election. Early voting will take place at the Civic Center (Green Barn) in Fairfield, located at the county fairgrounds, 839 East Commerce St.
The first round of early voting availability is from June 29 through July 2 (Monday-Thursday) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no early voting on the July 4 holiday weekend.
July 6 begins the second period of early voting, with votes able to be cast from July 6 to July 10 (Monday-Friday) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 2020 Runoff Election features two county races on the Republican ballot.
Running for the seat of County Commissioner, Precinct 3, will be Lloyd Lynn Lane and Ronnie French. Lane received 49.79 percent of the vote during the March 3 primary, necessitating a runoff with French, who grabbed 27.48 percent of the vote.
The title of Constable in Precinct 3 will also be contested between Richard Lee McGowan and incumbent Pamela Brackens Barnes. McGowan received 43.09 percent of the vote in March, with Barnes taking 32.66 percent.
On the state level, Pete Sessions and Renee Swann will be on the Republican ballot for Texas’ 17th Congressional District, with the winner advancing to the November 3 general election.
Sessions, the former state representative, received 58.11 percent of the Freestone County vote in March, and took 31.6 percent of the statewide vote.
Swann, endorsed by former TX17 representative Bill Flores, received 10.33 percent of the Freestone vote and 19 percent of the statewide vote.
The Democratic ballot will feature Rick Kennedy and David Jaramillo competing for the 17th District nomination.
Kennedy pulled in 56.24 percent of the Freestone County vote in March, and received 47.9 percent of the statewide vote.
Jaramillo took 19.93 percent of the Freestone vote and 35 percent of the statewide vote.
Also on the Democratic ballot will be a runoff for the United States Senator nomination, contested between Royce West and Mary (MJ) Hegar.
Hegar received 25.92 percent of the Freestone vote in March, and took 22.3 percent of statewide votes. West received 33.12 percent of the county vote and 14.7 percent of the statewide vote.
Polling times on July 14 will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following voting precinct locations:

-#4 Cotton Gin: Cotton Gin Voting Building, 795 FM 1366, Cotton Gin.
-#5 Teague: First Baptist Church, Family Life Center, 613 Walnut St., Teague.
-#6 Kirvin: Kirvin Baptist Church, 200 Main St., Kirvin.
-#7 Wortham: Wortham Community Center, 105 E. Main St., Wortham.
-#8 St. Elmo: Southern Oaks Clubhouse, 111 Southern Oaks Dr., St. Elmo.
-#9 Teague: Teague Church of Christ, 1001 8th Ave., Teague.
-#10 Freestone: Freestone Community Center, 739 FM 80 S, Freestone.
-#11 Butler: Shiloh Baptist Church, 1410 East FM 489, Oakwood.
-#13 Dew: Dew School Library, 606 CR 481, Teague.
-#14 Lanely: Lanely Methodist Church, 103 FM 1848, Lanely.
