The Anderson County Livestock Exchange in Elkhart celebrated its Grand Opening under new ownership on March 11, with support from the entire community and beyond.

Now under the ownership of Dr. James Peters, the exchange opened its doors on January 15. The auction hosts weekly sales every Wednesday at noon for producers and buyers alike to actively participate in a top cattle market. In addition, there is an auction every Wednesday at 10 a.m. for goats and sheep.

The auction facility is located on a 22-acre site which includes a covered barn with all the necessary feeding, testing and space that cattle producers expect. Additionally, all services needed to efficiently market cattle are provided, including penning, transportation and pregnancy testing.

On hand for the event were area dignitaries, including State Representatives Cody Harris and Cole Hefner. Texas State Senator Bryan Hughes was also in attendance for the grand opening.
