Led by a career night from Quarterback Justin Abram, the Fairfield Eagles advanced to 3-0 Friday night with a 45-25 win over Athens.

Down 25-24 in the third quarter of a back-and-forth affair, Abram put the Eagles up for good with his fourth rushing touchdown of the night from six yards out. The senior previously scored on runs for 30, 1 and 45 yards.

With the switch of the quarter to the fourth, Abram had the Eagles driving again before making a play with his arm, a 36-yard connection to Carl Daniels. Daniels made a spectacular catch off of a tip, giving Abram his fifth touchdown and putting the team up 38-25 with a Tyler Haynes extra point.

Later in the fourth, two-way star Jar-Mychael Hudson took a rush to the house from the Hornets' 44-yard line, with a Haynes kick making it 45-25.

A last gasp effort by the Hornets was thwarted by Dylon Rushin, making an interception grab with the Eagles backed into the red zone.

Before the game, a Parent's Night ceremony was held, recognizing the mentors of the Eagles' players. Each player was able to be accompanied onto the field by his parents and other family members.

Next up for the Eagles is Homecoming, with 1-2 Palestine coming to Eagle Field next Friday night. The Wildcats gained the first victory of the team's 2019 campaign Friday with a 32-14 win at Rusk.
